An excellent plant produced by the illustrious Brand Nursery, Edward F. Flynn has a magnificent depth of colour and provides unique landscape utility with its compact nature. The flower form is double with densely packed, undulating waves of petals and is globular in appearance. Stems are strong and do well to carry the flower upright. Blooms are a lavish, rich and dark maroon-red. Flowers open the same colour as the buds, perhaps a testament to the sun-proof quality of the flowers. Flowers later than most of the double reds, providing a unique opportunity to add some red to the perennial border late in the peony season. A strong grower that would look stunning as a hedge. Produces good cut flowers.
