Early Windflower
$100.00 (excl. tax)
A graceful, early-blooming hybrid that opens at the very start of the peony season. Often mistaken for Paeonia emodi, this Saunders-era peony quickly distinguishes itself with greater vigor, floriferousness, and overall garden presence.
Delicate single white flowers, anemone-like in form, are held on tall, slender stems, with two to four blooms per stem creating a light, drifting effect. Golden stamens add warmth, while the overall look remains airy and refined rather than bold.
Plants form broad, spreading clumps with finely cut, fern-like foliage that stays attractive all season. Unlike P. emodi, Early Windflower rarely sets seed—a useful distinction for collectors.
WHY WE LOVE IT: Early Windflower brings movement and quiet elegance to the garden. It captures a wild, natural look while offering the vigor and reliability that make it truly rewarding to grow.
