David’s Goliath

David’s Goliath is from the breeding work of Adam Yakabuskie. This advance L. tsingtauense martagon hybrid has a very dark stem and pedicles adorned with white buds that flush to burgundy red upon opening, revealing its mahogany red flower with darker burgundy blotches encompassed by a lighter cream pink, red anthers, with burnt orange pollen. Flat flower form with good inflorescence, which showcases upwards to 50 flowers each season. Foliage is dark green, resistant to botrytis. At maturity grows to 6ft in height with a 1 inch thick stem at the base. Great breeding potential with good seed fertility, some pollen fertility noted. Flowering mid-season. Hybridized: (2008) (NR), Parentage: (Arabian Knight) x TW-2000-10). Named to honor hybridizer’s son, David Yakabuskie. When David was only 2 years old he looked up at this martagon lily, like it was Goliath the Giant, and so the name “David’s Goliath” was given. New introduction, exclusive to Parkland Peonies
