David’s Goliath
$120.00 (excl. tax)
David’s Goliath is a landmark martagon lily from the breeding work of Adam Yakabuskie and represents the upper tier of modern Lilium tsingtauense hybrid development. This advanced selection produces a strikingly dark stem and pedicels, with white buds that flush burgundy before opening to richly saturated mahogany-red flowers. Each bloom is marked with darker burgundy blotches, softly framed by lighter cream-pink tones, and finished with red anthers carrying burnt-orange pollen.
At maturity, David’s Goliath reaches up to 6 feet in height, supported by a substantial 1-inch basal stem, and produces an impressive inflorescence of up to 50 upward-facing flowers in a single season. The flat flower form and strong presentation give this cultivar exceptional presence in the garden. Deep green foliage has demonstrated good resistance to botrytis under field conditions. Flowering occurs mid-season.
Beyond its ornamental appeal, this cultivar holds significant breeding value, showing good seed fertility with some pollen fertility observed. Hybridized in 2008 from (Arabian Knight × TW-2000-10), David’s Goliath is named in honour of the hybridizer’s son, David Yakabuskie, who as a young child looked up at this towering martagon as though it were Goliath himself.
A new and limited introduction, David’s Goliath is offered exclusively by Parkland Peonies and is recommended for collectors, serious gardeners, and breeders seeking a martagon lily of exceptional stature, character, and long-term value
