This plant has some serious connections in the peony world! Named after Allan Rogers of Caprice Farm Nursery in Sherwood, Oregon, a brilliant nursery person and author of an influential peony book, and developed by Bill Seidl, an outstanding hybridizer who has produced many trailblazing modern peonies that are highly in demand. With names of this caliber associated with this plant, you know it has to be something special. Full double flowers open in a gentle blush and mature to a clean white. The form is spectacular and highly refined with large petals nicely organized into a loose and airy configuration, making for a handsome flower. Plants are slightly shorter than average and are compact in habit with stems of great strength that do not require support. Foliage is deep green, healthy looking, and attractive. Side buds extend the blooming period. A terrific garden plant that is of special value to collectors and those with interest in the history of peonies. Only two Seidl-developed lactifloras have ever been registered and this is one of them.
WHY WE LOVE IT: Allan Rogers combines rare pedigree with excellent garden habit. Its compact growth, strong self-supporting stems, refined white blooms, and historical significance as one of Bill Seidl’s few registered lactifloras make it especially appealing to collectors and gardeners alike.
