This is a peony that is yellow incarnate, and so much so, and of such high quality, that hybridizer Donald Smith felt compelled to lend his name to it. This says a lot. The semi-double flowers are up to 8 inches across and a glowing shrine to the colour yellow with their shining, fluorescent yellow petals, and colour coordinated yellow stamens, stigmas, filaments, and sheath. The colour is of pristine clarity and even the flares are muted and at times unnoticeable. The overall effect is an extremely harmonious flower, and one that is very unique as most yellow Itohs express prominent red flares with stigmas of varying colours. One of the happiest flowers you can grow, these blooms are a shining beacon with colour that penetrates and can be seen clear across the block. Productive and a strong grower. Strong, rigid stems hold the flower upright under all conditions, as expected of an intersectional peony, and attractive, deep green Itoh type foliage results in a good looking plant all season long. Side buds extend the blooming period.
